Imagine. Believe. Achieve
The purpose of life is after all to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences. Eleanor Roosevelt
What is Bucketlisted 101 and why I decided to write a Bucket list
Bucketlisted 101 is a blog and community where I share strategies and actionable guides on how to complete your own Bucket list, a self-composed list of personal goals with a self-imposed deadline.
The mission of this site is to give every person the tools and motivation to create their own Bucket list.
The initial idea of creating a bucket list back in 2012 came after the unexpected death of two friends in the prime of their life’s within a short period of each other. At the time i didn’t realize how much their death would affect and change my outlook on life and how short and precious the time we have to go after our goals and dreams really is.
I took some time to reflect on what my goals, dreams and ambitions had been growing up and what I actually had achieved and done over the years leading up until that point.
Like a large portion of the population, I realized that a lot of my former goals, dreams and ambitions were still unfulfilled. and even though I had done and experienced quite a bit, I figured that there was still a lot of unfinished business with a lot more of what I wanted to do and experience in my life.
At the time there were only a handful of bucket list style sites to get information from but the one thing they all had in common was the commitment to writing your goals down and then commit to make them happen. You need to know what you want in order to make things happen. Hence, I took pen to paper (yep, old school) and got busy to compile my initial draft of ideas, goals and ambitions with the plan to get to work on it immediately. The official date of my bucket list is 30 July 2012. However, my list didn’t really take shape until January 2013 whilst away on a week long triathlon training camp in Jindabyne and it than took me almost another 18 months to put my first website together which finally saw the light of day in October 2014,
The motivation of designing, writing and building a website came after I attended a 3 day workshop in Melbourne by Travis Bell, the Bucket list guy and creator of one of the first l sites I came across looking for inspiration on the web. Even now, all those years later I still get a lot of inspiration from other people’s life and bucket lists from around the world hence the result is an ever growing and expanding list of stuff I want to do, see and experience. Also, as I don’t take anything of my list, it should create me with enough experiences and adventures to last me a lifetime and set me up for a hell of a ride. Besides, I believe a life full of memories is a life well lived.
Aside from using this site to track and share my experiences it’s also a great tool by keeping me focused on what is important and what can be achieved with a bit of imagination and out of the box thinking.
Bucketlisted 101 is not just about adding and ticking stuff of my ever growing list but also a way of life and getting the most out of it. I personally want to live, explore and have as many experiences that life has to offer and be an active participant by living my best life instead of watching someone else’s reels on social media from the sidelines.
Life is short and we all are given a limited amount of days but if you use it wisely and live everyday with purpose you can live a life with limited regrets.
We all get one life and one chance. What you do with it is up to you. Tomorrow isn’t promised, take some time, think how you’re spending your time right now and then imagine yourself some day in the future and think if your future self is going to be happy with the choices you made ……..
