Why you should consider writing a Bucket list

Is it worth it ?

By definition a Bucket list is a list of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to accomplish at least once during their lifetime.

We all have goals and dreams of things we want to do, see and accomplish in life and by taking a bit of time creating a bucket list, you are going to start living life a bit more deliberate and on your terms, yet only a few take the time to actually commit and plan for those goals. One easy way to track your goals is by writing them on a piece of paper or a digital device instead of just keeping them in your head with the off chance that you might  remember them someday in the future.

I find that the problem with that is that for most people, day to day life gets in the way and there seems to be a tendency that over time those goals are usually only remembered some later stage in the future when it’s often to late or you feel too old to go after them. Remember, your Bucket List should be an extension of what’s important to you and you are never too young or too old to start living your best life.

Going by my own experience, there is never going to be a perfect time to plan your list as life is always in flux so you might as well start today. Remember, every goal and dream you have in life is coming with an expiry date for you to complete (you don’t see too many 70-year-olds going on euro rail, tracking the Inca trail, run marathons, kitesurfing or climbing mountains) hence start making time for whatever your goals are now.

lots of people spend more time planning on what they are going to wear or do on a weekend than to actually think about what’s important to them and then plan their goals for the next 12 month or 3 years ahead. Having a Bucket list is going to help you save time, money and energy through having a pre-determined list of things you want to do, see and experience, hence taking a lot of the guess work out of planning                                                                        Time. money and the feeling of being stuck seem the most common excuse of not getting shit done but once you actually know what it is you want the how usually falls into place.

10 years from now you are going to say one of two things” I’m glad I did” or “I wish I had”                                                                                                            Graveyard the world over are full of people who died with their dreams and  there’s already too many people living in regret of not having had the courage to go after their goals and ambitions..

Knowing my time is limited, I know that I rather look back thinking I can’t believe I did that instead of living in regret of I wish I would have.                              Even if you only get to cross one or two item of your list per year, over a 10-year period that is going to be a min of 10 amazing experiences you’ll have in your bucket to look back onto. Personally, I love crossing items of my list as it encourages me to go for bigger and more rewarding goals.

By going after your goals, you also become a role model by setting an example for others to see what is possible.                                                                   Imagine, having just one person saying I did it because of you. and your future self having a bucket full of unique and amazing experiences to look back onto and knowing you lived your best life.
